Call of interest for participation in the 2nd Ionian Summer Music Academy, Corfu 2004 After the tremendous success of the 1st Ionian Summer Music Academy in Corfu, Melos Brass Quintet, in cooperation with the Municipality of Corfu and the Department of Music of the Ionian University, organizes the 2nd edition of the Academy, scheduled to take place between the 1st and the 7th of July 2004. Melos Brass, along with the Stockholm Chamber Brass, gives the seminars for 2004. The deadline for submitting the applications for participation in the series expires on April 30, 2004. The 2nd Ionian Summer Music Academy gives a unique opportunity for relaxed vacations combined with music classes and events. The 2004 Academy is again hosted at the municipal facilities of the historic islet of Vidos, five minutes by boat from the port of Corfu. The intensive instrumental lessons will be combined with participation in brass ensembles, daily concerts and a variety of cultural events (including a series of lectures by professors of the Music Department of the Ionian University). This year's guests are the internationally acknowledged soloists and trumpet professors "Stockholm Chamber Brass". Participants of every age and level of studies are acceptable and wholeheartedly welcomed. Those interested in participating should email the organizing committee by May 31, 2004 and submit their application. The Melos Brass are: Socratis Anthis (trumpet), Panayotis Kessaris (trumpet), Antonis Lagos (french horn) Spyros Faroughias (trombone) and Yorgos Rarakos (tuba, euphonium).
